The Stroke Support Group will meet from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at Baptist Hospital East’s Education Center (Classroom 2A), 4000 Kresge Way.
The Stroke Support Group is for people who have had a stroke, their family members and friends. It is for people who want to help themselves by:
• meeting people who have had a similar experience;
• offering encouragement and moral support to others;
• attending social events; and
• understanding the many physical and emotional problems associated with strokes.
A stroke just doesn't happen to an individual. It happens to the entire family. Family members and friends often feel confused, frustrated and isolated. This group provides support, understanding and encouragement for them.
Healthcare professionals from the Rehabilitation Program at Baptist East serve as group leaders. Group leaders consist of a chaplain, social workers and recreational therapists.
The Stroke Support Group is provided free by the Rehabilitation Program at Baptist East. Attendance is open to anyone who has had a stroke and their family members and friends. For more information, call (502) 896-7441.
