Free Heartsaver AED Course at Baptist Hospital East
A free Heartsaver AED course will teach the basic techniques of adult CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED) from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at the Baptist Hospital East Rehabilitation unit, fourth floor of the 4002 Building.
Instructors are Julie Naville, Occupational Therapy director, and Tina Volz, physical therapist. Both are on the medical staff at Baptist Hospital East.
The course will teach lay rescuers when to phone 911, how to give CPR, how to use an AED, and how to provide relief from choking.
Participants will be tested on a mannequin. Those who are successful will be certified to perform CPR and use an AED on adult victims. Certification, through the American Heart Association, is good for two years.
