The Q Group
Event Description:
The Q Group is a group for LGBTQIA+ professionals and their allies. This group will look similar to a referral group and a mastermind group. Each meeting will feature time for introductions of all attendees to give a 30-45 second commercials and group members will be able to break off into groups and discuss various challenges they are having in their professional work. This group is open to all members in good standing and will meet once a month. Guests are welcomed but would need to join the Chamber before becoming a member of the group.
This month's speaker will be Sarah Johnson, President of Southern Indiana Pride.
Sarah Johnson is a dedicated professional with a passion for community outreach and LGBTQ+ advocacy. Sarah embarked on a journey of personal and professional growth that led her to become a prominent figure in the Louisville area.
Sarah's educational background includes graduating from Indiana University, where she earned her Master's in Business Administration. This degree equipped her with a strong foundation in business principles and management strategies.
Sarah's career spans over two decades, during which she worked at reputable organizations such as Humana and LG&E. At LG&E, she played a pivotal role in founding the network resource group for the LGBTQ+ community. This initiative aimed to create a supportive and inclusive work environment for employees of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities. Sarah's dedication and passion for LGBTQ+ rights were recognized, leading her to serve as the group's president for two terms.
In 2022, Sarah extended her commitment to advocacy by joining Southern Indiana Pride as a volunteer. Southern Indiana Pride is a grassroots organization focused on promoting LGBTQ+ visibility and rights in the Southern Indiana area. Sarah's involvement deepened in 2023 when she became the Secretary of the Board, contributing her skills and expertise to support the organization's mission.
Sarah's dedication did not go unnoticed, as she was elected President of the Southern Indiana Pride Board in November 2023. In this role, she leads the organization in its efforts to expand its reach and impact in the community. Sarah is determined to create a more inclusive and accepting environment by organizing events, educational programs, and support services for the Southern Indiana LGBTQ+ population.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys immersing herself in nature, exploring all that the world has to offer. She values self-care as a way to maintain balance and recharge, allowing her to continue her tireless efforts in advocating for equality and social justice.
Sarah Johnson's determination, strategic thinking, and passion for LGBTQ+ rights have made her an instrumental advocate and leader in the Southern Indiana community. She continues to work tirelessly to amplify the voices of marginalized communities and create a more inclusive and accepting society for all.
