Reclaiming the Dream: the Story of Rehabilitation for Blinded Veterans
Our Veterans Day program honors the thousands of American soldiers, sailors, and airman who returned home from their service with damaged vision. These young men and women pioneered techniques for "foot travel" that made it possible for blind people everywhere to break barriers and achieve their aspirations. The program explores the birth of modern rehabilitation, the origins of orientation and mobility, a screening of the classic 1953 documentary "The Long Cane", and the personal stories of recent graduates of V.A. programs. Best for older children and adults.
