SUMMARY:The Q Group
DESCRIPTION:The Q Group is a group for LGBTQIA+ professionals and their allies. This group will look similar to a referral group and a mastermind group. Guests are welcomed but would need to join the Chamber before becoming a member of the group.\n\n \n\nThis month's speakers are \n are Greg Bourke and Michael De Leon.\n\nThey married in 2004 in Canada.\n\nIn 2013\, they sued then-Governor Steve Beshear over the state's refusal to recognize their marriage.\n\nWithin two years their case was brought to the supreme court\, joined by other couples from across the country.\n\nFinally\, on June 26\, 2015\, the highest court ruled in their favor. The justices found the Fourteenth Amendment requires a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out of State.\n\nOne justice swung the vote in a 5-4 decision based on the Fourteenth Amendment.\n\n\n \n\nFor more information\, email Josh Suiter at JoshS@stmatthewschamber.com
